I have recently contributed to Barcelona’s über cool Le Cool’s ‘A Smart Guide to Utopia: 111 inspiring ideas for a better city’ and got my copy of the book in the post this week.
The book presents case studies of projects from all over Europe that have made a ‘positive, sustainable change to life in our cities’, ranging from urban farming to pop-up restaurants to sustainable design. A subject close to my personal and professional heart, the book asks the question of question of how people live and work in their cities.
The projects I chose as exemplars of positive and sustainable urban practice were Empty Shops Network and 3Space, University of Warsaw’s Green Roof and The Spot skate park in Hackney.
More on the book, and to purchase it, can be found here.
