A Timeline of Infinite Skies
Go and see this. Then go back.
'A Timeline of Infinite Skies' at Phoenix Art Space is one of those exhibitions that stays with you - layered, nuanced, and making extraordinary use of the space. Artist duo Antonio Jose Guzman and Iva Jankovic, collective Messengers of the Sun, have created something genuinely stunning: indigo-patterned textile sculpture and a deeply immersive soundscape that rewards time, and rewards return.
What strikes me is how the work holds complexity without overwhelming you. You move through it, you listen, you discover. And then you want to come back and find what you missed.
As Chair of the Board of Phoenix Art Space, I don't say lightly that this is the kind of exhibition that reminds me why this place matters. Co-presented with Brighton Festival, it sits within our 2026 curatorial theme of 'Future Histories', and it earns that framing completely.
A huge thank you to Lucy Day and Laurence Hill FRSA and all of the Phoenix Art Space team, and Lucy Davies and our Festival colleagues, for making this happen. The care and commitment that goes into bringing work of this calibre to Brighton & Hove does not happen by accident.
Worth noting too: Guzman and Jankovic are currently representing Panama at the 2026 Venice Biennale. Their work is in Brighton until 28 June.
Wednesday to Sunday, 12-5pm. Free.
